ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY

Well folks I can't believe its Saturday already and that our trip is coming to an end soon.  We are back on the mainland tomorrow here. Its today for you!  We have managed to see a bit more of the Island and the weather has been wonderful even a bit to hot this afternoon.  We are staying at Port Alberni, which was once one of the biggest fish caning places here on. The island, but sadly like so many places it has been closed for years, there is still a harbour with private boats.  It's been lovely catching up with members of Charlies family.    We have managed to go off and do things by ourselves which has been good!!!  No whale watching or wild life today. Just some more scenic photographs!

I couldn't  get over the colour of the water, this was up high in the mountains

Yet they haven't had snow over here for two winters so many of the rivers and creeks are very low,
They are getting worried as the weather has been so dry, the risk of fires is very worrying,
And with low waters in these rivers and creeks fighting them is going to be very difficult.

We stopped at this pull in place, I don't what or why folk have put pad locks on this bit of fencing?

Now, it's been a things while we have been here to try and find a " Mountie " for my friend Maureen,
It's not been easy, we really haven't seen more than two Mounties the whole time we have been here, and they have been in their patrol cars. We did call in today to the harbour post, no Mounties there, it was the same at the station at Lake Louise? So when we saw this stand outside the community station, I just had to take a photograph! As I think this is as close to seeing one in full uniform as we will get!

What's the bet we will see some now???
That's all for now, thank you for leaving your lovely comments.  I might not be posting again until we are back home, as we are going to be busy, catching up with a friend of Charlies from when he was in the forces also more family members.  And then it will be home for us.

  5. Hi Hazel more fantastic photos and at least with these Mounties they won't answer back!! When we went to Canada a few years ago we travelled around and only saw one Mountie in Telegraph Cove and think that was due to it being Canada day xx the padlocks is a newish fad that people are fastening to fences, usually on bridges and with the couples names on - on one of the bridges in Paris there are so many that they are now having to cut them off (think it is due to the extra weight) xx enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks for sharing your fab photos they have been fab to look at and brought back some lovely memories xx safe trip home xx GailT xx

  6. Hi Hazel
Glad you are still enjoying your trip and that you've had good weather.
Your scenic shots are lovely and you can almost smell that fresh air.
The padlock thing on the bridge is probably copying the Pont des Arts in Paris, where sweethearts personalise padlocks and attach them to the bridge as a sign of their love, ahhhhhh.
Mind you, the local council have started removing the panels from the bridge as they are worried about all the extra weight.
There you go, a bit of trivia for you lol!
    Best wishes.

  8. Hi Hazel,
You did good girl. Even if one of the Mounties is a lady, I'm extra pleased. First a creek, then a Mountie. Well you certainly know how to deliver. I really want to thank you for taking us on this fantastic journey with you. I'll never get to Canada so I've really enjoyed it, and it's so much cheaper than having to pay to go!!!! it's a shame that it's gone over so quickly!!!
Enjoy yourselves with the time you have left, and I'll be with you every step of the way!!! P.S. 4 weeks today Patricia, you and I will be sitting coffeeing and putting the world to rights, how exciting is that?
    Love Muriel xx

  9. Hi Hazel,
Where has the time gone? It has flown by. I love the first photo and the colour of the water is amazing! It really does look dry doesn't it. Padlocks as has already been said mimicking L Pont Des Artes in Paris! The pictures of the padlocks there were astounding! Enjoy today and safe travel back across to the mainland!

  17. Hi Hazel

Fabulous pictures Hazel, thank you for sharing your holiday. I've heard of a bridge in Paris where you write your names on the lock then lock it onto the fence and throw the key into the water. Enjoy yourselves.

  18. Great photos again Hazel, you could just go for a dip in that water it looks so inviting. The padlock thing is is not a love token? A bridge in Paris was on TV recently because they're having to move all the padlocks that lovers attach as a token of them being " locked together in love" (pass the bucket!)
Maybe if the view has a certain significance it could be a similar idea?
Needless to say the bridge in Paris has become so heavy now with all the padlocks their having to remove them as it has damaged it. LOL.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday, hope you find a real mountie before you leave.

    Hugs Erika. x
